Medelys is also involved in the education of global health near large public and professional orders.

The Scientist

Jean-Yves Leroux, Ph.D. MBA, is a specialized immunologist-biochemist, amongst other things, in the field of auto-immune diseases and in the degeneration of the cartilage in arthritis and aging.

In addition of having an extremely impressive academic file:

-Degree in physiology and cellular biology;

-Mastership in Science of the Institute Armand-Frappier in  immunology (cancerology);

-Doctorate of the McGill University specialized in biochemistry and  immunology (department of Experimental Surgery; Faculty of  Medicine).

Dr. Leroux has a vast experiment of more than 18 years in biochemical research.

He studied biochemistry of complex sugars on cancer with the Center of cancerology of McGill University.

He occupied several functions of research partnership in famous laboratories of Montreal, like the Clinical Institute of Search of Montreal and the Institute of Research in Biotechnology of CNRC.  He also worked as scientific consultant for multinational in pharmaceutics.

He did post-doctorate research in molecular biology (molecular mechanism recognition in specific immunity; development of expression molecular system with the genetic recombination; molecular mechanism in rheumatic arthritis).

He has collaborated with the largest celebrities of the scientific world in technologically advanced sectors in immunology and articular diseases.

His research are especially based on the knowledge of the action mechanisms of the immune system in the degradation of the molecules of the cartilage in diseases and aging, in particular proteoglycans and collagens.  The results of his research brought him to several discoveries internationaly recognized as being major and which the importance was stressed by its pars.

• He his among the first scientists to have cloned immune cells ''T'' responsible of rheumatic arthritis release in an animal model;
• He his also among the first to have contribute cloning such cells in human being;
• He discovered certain mechanisms of action of these cells concerning molecules' destruction in the cartilage;
• He also discovered the inflence of glucidic chains attached to proteins of the cartilage and the relation which could exist between this one and the advent of possible arthritis and implications with aging.

He is the author of many articles published in international scientific periodics of first authority and was invited in several conferences held at the time for international prestigious scientific conferences.  He received many honorary exhibitions.

Now, Mr. Leroux is interested, on the one hand to scientifically support the approaches based on the alternative medicines and he is convinced of potential offered in this sector of health. And on the other hand, the medical potential of the products derived from extracts of the vegetable and animal biomass is also a part of his interest.

He worked out several formulations of collagen supplements to be used as treatment for osteoarthritis.  He is the cofounder of Medelys Laboratories International Inc.
